10 day Omo Valley & Harar Trip

Arrive in Addis Ababa and enjoy a guided city tour. Visit Mount Entoto for panoramic views, the National Museum to see “Lucy,” St. George’s Cathedral, and Merkato—the largest open-air market in Africa. Enjoy an authentic Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Morning flight to Arba Minch. After breakfast, drive to the Dorze village in the highlands, famous for its beehive-shaped huts and vibrant weaving traditions. Experience their warm hospitality and traditional coffee. Return to Arba Minch for dinner.

Enjoy a morning boat trip on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles, hippos, and colorful birdlife. Continue to Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for terraced farming and wooden grave markers called “waka.” Visit the Konso King’s village in the evening.

After breakfast, drive to Turmi through scenic landscapes. Visit the Hamer tribe, renowned for their elaborate hairstyles, scarification, and the “bull-jumping” ceremony—a rite of passage into adulthood. Experience their unique culture and warm hospitality.

Drive to Kara village, known for artistic body painting and villages along the Omo River. Return to Turmi for lunch and, if possible, attend the Hamer bull-jumping ceremony—a key cultural event celebrating manhood and family pride.

After breakfast, visit the Arbore tribe, known for their colorful attire and shaved hairstyles. Continue to Omorate to cross the Omo River and meet the Dassanech people, who live along its banks. Later, drive to Jinka and visit the Ari tribe village.

Early drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for women who wear lip plates and men who decorate their bodies with paint. Return to Jinka for lunch, then fly to Addis Ababa in the afternoon.

Fly to Dire Dawa and drive to Harar, a 16th-century walled Islamic city and UNESCO site. Stroll through its colorful alleys and visit the home of French poet Arthur Rimbaud, who once lived here as a trader and explorer.

Visit Harar’s lively markets, museums, and the home of Ras Mekonnen, father of Emperor Haile Selassie. Explore Harari culture and enjoy the evening “Hyena Man” show, where locals feed hyenas by hand—a unique Harar tradition.

Drive back to Dire Dawa for your flight to Addis Ababa. In the afternoon, visit local art galleries or souvenir markets. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant with live music and cultural dance before your departure.
