Namibia Desert & Wildlife Journey

The journey begins with a scenic drive south from Windhoek, crossing the dramatic Spreetshoogte Pass as the landscapes open into the vast Namib Desert. Along the way, a stop at Moose McGregor’s Desert Bakery offers the chance to taste its famous apple pie. Arrive at your desert lodge and settle in, with time to relax by the pool or enjoy a sundowner drive across the quiet desert plains.

Optional: Desert lodge nature drives

Today, you get the chance to see the desert from above with an optional hot air balloon flight at sunrise. Later, explore the towering dunes of Sossusvlei and the striking clay pan of Deadvlei, where ancient trees stand against a sea of sand. The day continues with a visit to Sesriem Canyon before returning to the lodge for a peaceful evening.

Today, you will cross the desert toward the Atlantic coast and the charming seaside town of Swakopmund. The scenery shifts as the warm desert air meets the cool ocean breeze. After lunch, there is time to explore the town or try thrilling activities in the nearby dunes. Dinner is enjoyed at one of Swakopmund’s well-known local restaurants.

An early start offers you the option of a dolphin cruise in Walvis Bay, where playful dolphins and seals often appear alongside the boat. Later, venture toward Sandwich Harbour, where towering sand dunes roll directly into the Atlantic Ocean. The dramatic meeting of desert and sea creates one of Namibia’s most unforgettable landscapes.

Leaving the coast behind, you will head northeast into the rugged landscapes of Damaraland, passing the towering Brandberg Mountain. Arrive at the lodge and take time to relax or explore the surroundings. In the afternoon, head out in search of the region’s famous desert-adapted elephants, followed by a scenic sundowner overlooking the vast terrain.

You will spend the day exploring Damaraland’s dramatic valleys, rocky plains, and open desert scenery. Guided nature drives reveal wildlife that has adapted to survive in this harsh environment. Between activities, enjoy quiet moments back at the lodge surrounded by endless views. The evening ends with another unforgettable desert sunset.

You will start your day with a visit to Twyfelfontein, home to remarkable San rock engravings that date back thousands of years. Continue to the nearby Petrified Forest, where ancient fossilised trees lie scattered across the desert landscape. The journey then leads north toward Etosha National Park, one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife reserves.

Today is dedicated to a full game drive through Etosha National Park, where you will explore its vast salt pans and wildlife-rich waterholes. Lions, elephants, giraffes, and rhinos are often spotted across the open plains. Each stop offers a new scene as animals gather to drink and roam the landscape.

Another day unfolds in Etosha with morning and afternoon safari drives, offering you more opportunities to observe the park’s incredible wildlife. Midday brings a pause at the lodge for lunch and relaxation. As the afternoon light softens, the bush once again becomes active with movement.

The journey continues south to Okonjima Nature Reserve, home to the AfriCAT conservation project. This private reserve is known for protecting Namibia’s large carnivores. In the afternoon, you will join an expert-guided leopard tracking experience, following these elusive cats across the reserve.

After breakfast, the journey concludes with a transfer back to Windhoek for your onward flight. The memories of Namibia’s dunes, wildlife, and dramatic landscapes travel with you long after departure. It’s a journey that leaves a lasting impression of Africa’s raw beauty.
